As an entrepreneur in the financial, IT and healthcare sector I am now developing PARAPLU Simulation in the educational sector.
My professional journey brought me from the health care sector into the world of physiotherapy, as being a student to become a physiotherapist. In this role I discovered the issues and difficulties in our education and how we could improve the learning curve of students tremendously.
I am fascinated by how people learn and develop as a human being. The combination of IT solutions and developing young health care professionals in their learning and clinical reasoning are fused into PARAPLU Simulations.
With the possibilities Artificial Intelligence brings us, I am determined to bring learning to a new level for students, lecturers and universities.

Balancing life as a professional handball player with studying physiotherapy, I bring steady focus and drive to both worlds. At PARAPLU Simulations, I’m the engine when it comes to content: sparking physiotherapeutical topics and shaping the cases we build on.
I value clarity and thrive in a structured environment. I believe the right tools aren’t just nice to have — they’re essential for people to grow and perform at their best. I bring that mindset to the team every day, creating space for development, both for myself and those around me.
Curious by nature and driven by a desire to improve, I’m always thinking about how we can work smarter. I’m not just building content; I’m helping shape how we build it, making sure we stay sharp, efficient, and focused on what really matters.

I am a physiotherapist and manual therapist, and I work closely with students during their internships. After running a large private practice for years, I chose a different path and became a lecturer. It was in this role that I started to see the real barriers students face in our current system — especially when it comes to programmatic testing and the art of giving and receiving meaningful feedback.
At the same time, I realized how much pressure there is on lecturers to offer truly individualized education. Seamless feedback, adaptive learning paths — they’re powerful tools, but incredibly time-consuming to deliver. That tension sparked something in me.
I’ve always been fascinated by how students behave — not just in the classroom, but in real clinical settings. They all face the same uncertainties when starting their internships, but each in their own way. I believe in being open about those struggles, in learning together, and in working as a team without ego. It’s not about who does what — it’s about what we build together. That mindset is what drives me, along with a good dose of energy, a sense of humor, and the belief that learning should be both serious and light-hearted.
That’s what brought me to this collaboration with Qiang Chen, and into the heart of PARAPLU Simulations — a place where all of this comes together.

I’m the calm person who likes to keep an overview of everything going on. Being structured and analytic, I love it when everything is well planned and the details match perfectly. At PARAPLU Simulations, I’m the operational manager — organizing the jobs that need to be done and making sure things run smoothly behind the scenes.
I’m also very focused on organization: having a clear plan and structure helps everyone stay on track and do their best work. I’m naturally critical in a way that pushes us to give our best effort. For that reason I am also a member of the IPC / IMR within the Fontys University, as I am studying physiotherapy and am engaged with the development of education for students and Fontys.
I’m a connecting and organizing person, supporting the team and contributing creatively — especially in designing the platform. While I mostly work behind the scenes, I stay closely involved and ready to engage with clients or explore research and development roles as we grow.
Jan Cloete
I was born in South Africa and moved to the Netherlands at 15. I grew up doing anything sports-related and, at twenty, finished a full Ironman.
That background brought me to physiotherapy: wanting to understand the miracle of the human body (and how to stop injuring it).
During my studies, I became the student representative for ENPHE (European Network of Physiotherapy in Higher Education). That meant being out of my depth alongside exceptional professors, leading some of the brightest physio students in Europe, and making sure students had a real voice in where education is heading.
Then I caught a man-flu version of the entrepreneurship bug. Joining PARAPLU led to other startups, and to being the only physio student in a business minor. Now I do business development, marketing (hope you like this website) and sales at Sophy & Co (FinTech) and a few other projects.
At the start of my fourth year I went all-in and followed my talents out of the physiotherapy programme, but not out of the field. PARAPLU is how I stay in it.
I know what it’s like to live through the switch to Self-Regulated Learning as a student. I’ve helped bring ENPHE’s vision to life outside the meeting room. And I know how to sell, build and market something people actually use.
Separately, nothing special. Together, exactly what PARAPLU needs.
